Food and drink at the core of our Worldstar Award winning flexible packaging innovations
HUHTAMAKI OYJ PRESS RELEASE 19.1.2017 14:30
We are a global specialist in packaging for food and drink. The innovation and manufacturing capabilities of our flexible packaging business were recently recognized when three new consumer packaging solutions made by Huhtamaki won global Worldstar 2017 awards.
"The most pleasing aspect of these awards is that they reflect our response to key market demands such as premiumisation, point-of-sale differentiation and waste reduction in an innovative way, while showcasing our extensive offering for the food and beverage sector ranging from functional laminates and labels to pre-made pouches," says Warren Shaw, VP Innovation and Product Development, Flexible Packaging.
Refilly round coffee refill pack, Germany
Italian coffee specialist Illycaffè turned to our team in Germany to create an innovative refill solution while maintaining their premium positioning. The round, flexible stand-up pouch is an easy-to-open refill package that preserves the coffee aroma, easily fits into a 250g Illy metal can and reduces packaging weight by 80 percent. In addition to its high functionality, the clever design and eye catching appearance ensure an outstanding product presentation.
Tzinga Profile Pouches, India
After building a leading brand in the Indian ready-to-drink market with Paper Boat, Hector Beverages again worked closely with us to launch Tzinga onto the energy drink market. The brand was launched in slim-look profile pouches, a new concept in the beverage market segment in India, in line with the health focused concept of the drink. The spout feature provides ready-to-drink functionality and together with a matte effect, the pouch provides a distinctive presence to the product.
Horlicks Gold Pressure Sensitive Label, India
Horlicks is one of GSK's leading brands, committed to amplifying and improving food's nutritional value through science. We helped to differentiate the premium variant, Horlicks Gold, from their regular health drink range by introducing a gold-effect pressure sensitive label with metallic and tactile effects. The new print makes the pack to stand out on the shelf and grab the consumers' attention.
The WorldStar Awards competition is organized by the World Packaging Organisation and recognizes packaging excellence on a global level. WorldStar recognitions are presented only to those packages which, having already won an award in a national competition, are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packages from around the world. Awards are based on the judges' consensus that a package is superior in its own right, and better in its class in execution or innovation by comparison. The 2017 WorldStar Awards were judged in Vienna, by a panel of global experts.
