Huhtamaki, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, is proud to take part in the UNEP SEA of Solutions 2024, which took place from September 18-20 at the UN Environment Programme Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand. SEA of Solutions is a flagship partnerships event towards solving plastic pollution at source.
The SEA of Solutions event consisted of panel discussions from across the value chain, showcasing of innovative solutions and field visits into businesses and local communities.
Pongsak Padungkarn, Vice President of Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging SEAO, emphasized the importance and implementation of lifecycle thinking in Huhtamaki at the Plenary Session on September 18. “Huhtamaki has developed game-changing circular solutions by considering the entire product life cycle. We welcome collaborations with stakeholders across the value chain to make sustainable packages affordable and recycled,” Pongsak stated.
As part of agenda on September 20th, Huhtamaki collaborated with SEA circular Project in organizing an exclusive field visit to our Huhtamaki Thailand Site. This visit brought together 26 participants from governments, businesses, civil societies, research and academia, media, and international organizations across Southeast Asia.
UNEP Goodwill Ambassador, Alexander Rendell, who participated in the visit, said: "Redesigning products and packaging is essential to the global push to end plastic pollution. Designing for circularity will be key to keeping valuable resources in the economy and out of the environment."
In addition to the field visit, Huhtamaki also showcased our innovative products at the "Circularity in the Plastic Value Chain" booth located outside the meeting room at UNCC. Participants were keen to learn about blueloop flexible packaging solutions, which are designed for circularity. By collaborating across the value chain, our innovative packaging solutions are addressing plastic challenges at the source.
SEA of Solutions 2024 offers a crucial platform for sharing best practices, fostering collaboration, and exploring solutions to address plastic pollution. Huhtamaki is excited to participate in this event and continue its journey towards sustainability and circularity.
