In September 2024, Magnum® ice cream, the brand described by Unilever as “the world’s authority on pleasure”, launched its new premium treats: Magnum® BonBon. These indulgent and premium bite-sized, chocolate covered ice cream snacks are packed in equally indulgent, fully recyclable pint-sized paper tubs and lids which feature striking and luxurious gold, metallized foil decoration. Both the tub and lid are manufactured by the same Huhtamaki factory in Europe.
This launch celebrates over 25 years of collaboration and partnership between Huhtamaki and Unilever and is the culmination of a project initiated in September 2020. The development of the new ice cream tub involved four years of intensive work, including product definition, raw material evaluation, and homologation testing. Throughout this process, Huhtamaki’s New Product Development Team closely collaborated with the customer throughout the project to deliver the new tubs.
The dedicated teams from both companies led the project coordination and maintained close partnership. This collaboration involved Unilever’s R&D Team and received crucial support from various departments of the Huhtamaki Team, demonstrating excellent teamwork between global and local entities.
